Wood and Laminate

All the hardwood flooring that we supply is of a three-layer design. The fibres in the middle layer are at right angles to the bottom stabilising layer, and to the hardwood layer on top. 70% of the natural movement of the timber is thus eliminated, giving a wood floor without the gaps common in solid wood flooring products. A lacquer finish ensures ease of cleaning.

Laminate flooring, such as Quick-step, is constructed in a similar way, but a printed design layer replaces the hardwood, giving a natural wood look at a considerably reduced price.

Both wood and laminate come in many varieties - oak, beech, maple, cherry, etc. They are usually laid on an underlay, which consists of a moisture-resistant backing and a foam centre. This gives excellent strength and insulation to any floor.

When using glue-free joints (or click joints), the flooring is easier and quicker to lay, and it can be easily uplifted when required. This method now commands a large portion of the total laminate flooring market.

We also supply and fit a wide range of door profiles and skirtings etc, to complete the finishing touches. Please contact us for further details.
